So...yeah. Haven't updated this in years. But...I've purdged my gallery of my Demotivators. Many/most of them were violating the regulation of not posting screenshots to DA, and while I'm not sure how binding or what have you that really is, I consider myself something of a Lawful Good-aligned fellow, and as such FINALLY decided to stick to my guns so to speak. This may well rob my account of its main source of pageviews, but...oh well, it's not that big a deal. I do have some original writing things in mind, but between the many demands for time a college student and NROTC midshipman faces and my hobby/habit of playing video games or just w

Alright! Here's another gaming rant by Vidit! (And also some stuff about writing, so stay tuned and VOTE.) Thoughts on Tropico 3. Tropico 3 is a strategy game that puts the player in the role of "El Presidente" of a Caribbean banana republic amidst the Cold War. ...this is not a depressing game, though, and in fact, the game is very tongue-in-cheek and satirical. You start out by selecting an AVATAR-no, not a wierd alien body used to deliver a heavy-handed environmentalist message, no, not an arrow-marked bald child that is supposed to be able to conjure up wind on command, but, rather, one's representation on the island. The game presents

Hey there, everyone! And, of course, by "everyone" I mean "my SRB pals plus whoever happens to randomly stumble onto my page".  Time for some more thoughts from Vidit. What have we got from me? First, first year of college and ROTC is almost behind me. I'll be glad to just head back for the summer and relax (and work, I suppose). I'm already feeling a sort of academic burnout (a symptom I'm confident most of you, if not all of you, can relate to). But that's not what you're here for, now is it? Of course not you wanna hear Vidit's rants about GAMES, right? Well are you in for a treat. I've a couple to talk about here (of course, I could ta

Thanks for the visit. :)
Enjoy the very detailed story.

Hey mate, C&C Remastered news and a new trailer coming tomorrow! So I did not know that the original Red Alert was included along with the first game and we got an official answer to the cutscene question. Came across an in-depth video I thought you might find interesting:

Not only a new trailer! A release date! And thank you, my friend, that was indeed an interesting video! I knew that Red Alert was included along with the original, and I THINK they're throwing in the mission packs/expansions to those games and some bonus material, as well! I bought it pretty much the INSTANT I saw it was on Steam.

If you want to add it to your library (and add me as a friend on it, if you wish, I'm The Vidit of Light).

Not sure where else it may appear, but Steam is as good a place as any, for me! Anyhow, looks like it's coming out on June 5th of this year! SO CLOSE...I feel it may be prudent to temper my excitement a little, seeing how hard Warcraft 3 Reforged failed, but...I'm getting a different vibe from this, you know? Like you said, it looks like more effort's been put into this, despite EA of all companies being the man behind the man in charge of it. Though the fact they deferred so heavily to the Westwood veterans at Petroglyph is evidence that they had at least SOME intelligence about it, haha.

PS: yeah Steam's the better choice, the one other place I saw for the standard edition it is Origin and I'm not the biggest fan of the service (it's nice for the free games, but I wouldn't put money down on any for it). There's a $60 special edition via Limited Run Games, plus a more expensive version of that...but both come with Steam versions of the game, which kind of defeats the purpose of ordering physical XD

Alright, sorry about the delay on this, though I think our Steam chat covered some of these points. Yeah, I didn't mind Origin, but haven't touched it in a long, long while...20 bucks does seem like a very good price for a remastered and bonus-feature addled rerelease of some classic, but very old games. And their community involvement and friendliness and all that is a HUGE plus, especially in light of Blizzard's Warcraft flop and EA's standard reputation...and Frank Klepacki returning, as well as bringing back Eva's voice actress...those are clear plusses. I mean, Klepacki's return was basically NEEDED for this to go smoothly, there would possibly have been a fan outcry if he was't, but Eva's original VA returning to rerecord lines shows that this was a labor of love, or at least a dedication to details and getting this right. I'm totally with you on supporting the fellows as Petroglyph with our cash, especially in light of how well-done this project is being! Send the message that there's still a market for good C&C and RTS products!

I play mostly on the PC these days myself, so it's not an issue with me, much, though tinkering with parts certainly CAN be a problem, and one that I almost always need to enlist help with, haha. Usually I've found it worth it, though...glad to hear you're looking forward to some other games coming soon, as well! I've got a few on my own radar still, but they are...well, PC exclusive, haha. Or at least, a couple I can think of (Starship Troopers: Terran Command and Iron Harvest 1920+, BOTH RTS games!) But yeah, RTS games do have a way of being able to fit a mission or two in when you're pressed for time. Heck, some speedrunners have completed entire C&C CAMPAIGNS in about an hour!

I share this hype, at least to some extent. Looking forward in particular to returning to the battlefields of Europe to crush the Red Menace, haha. Sorry again about the delay, and talk to you when I do, here or on Steam or wherever!

Yeah I went ahead and preordered too (AND added you as a Steam friend!), $20 sounds like a more reasonable ask price for two remastered games AND their expansion packs (which I never played). They've been pretty upfront with their promising and they're already starting on a better foot getting the community involved, even going so far as to get Frank Klepacki and Eva's original voice to re-record lines and music! EA seems to be taking a step back on this like they did with Jedi: Fallen Order and promising no microtransactions, so the way I see it, we've gotta support the good guys at Petroglyph with our money. If I was worried about one thing - besides the fact I play much less on PC these days because upgrading and tinkering with settings became a pain in the @$$ XD - it's in between The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima, two PS4 exclusives I'm really excited for, but the great thing about strategy games is being able to squeeze in a mission or two on a crowded day. So yup, hyped for it!
